Marvel Announces ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ Will Be Two-Part Finale, Gives Release Dates

Marvel's Avengers is set for a finale so huge, it will take two films to tell it.

At a special event for press and fans Tuesday, Kevin Feige announced “Avengers: Infinity War,” the two-part third installment of the “Avengers” franchise that will be unveiled on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 respectively.

The “Infinity War” title suggests the films will indeed pay off the Infinity Gauntlet storyline that's been teased and built up throughout the Marvel movies thus far, most recently and prominently in “Guardians of the Galaxy”.

Thanos, voiced by Josh Brolin has been collecting Infinity Stones throughout the Marvel films in an attempt to complete the collection to control the Infinity Gauntlet, which he probably will at some point in 2018 or 2019, forcing the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Black Widow to reunite again to stop him.
