Marvel/Sony Spider-Man Reboot Officially Titled SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Official Press Release Via Marvel.com

The Webhead’s first solo adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now officially has its title, as Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” prepares to swing into theaters July 7, 2017!

Sony made the announcement tonight at CinemaCon, giving a title to Spidey’s upcoming saga directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

Before that, though, catch Spider-Man’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6.

Although they most likely won't adapt the story directly, here's a little info on the "Homecoming" story from the comics.

“Homecoming” is the title of The Amazing Spider-Man issue #252 that was written by Tom DeFalco and illustrated by Ron Frenz. The storyline involves Peter Parker returning to New York City, after having gained his Venom symbiote costume following the 1984 Secret Wars comic book event (no chance they use the symbiote in the first movie).

The storyline features appearances by Avengers such as Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and The Wasp. Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard ( Kevin Feige has said the film will feature a super-villain not seen in any previous live-action movie) and Felicia Hardy also appear.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017
